Oscar De La Renta - Red Carpet Realness
Oscar De La Renta is a new runway for me to be covering on my blog. I have been familiar with the brand for years and quite often I look at the runway but I haven't felt I've had a lot to say on past runways, whereas this season I have some thoughts. Good thoughts, I basically want to wear the entire collection at some point in my life.
Oscar De La Renta is a red carpet favourite and looking at this runway it is easy to see why. Of course there were more casual pieces within the runway but I don't know why they just don't appeal to me as much. I really just want to talk about the evening wear.

Autumn/Winter 2020
The picture above contains the only semi-casual outfit that I liked from the runway, everything else is over the top and extravagant. The reason I love the dress in the picture above is due to the shaping and draping created within the piece. That is the thing about Oscar De La Renta it is clearly created to celebrate the body in the best possible way. I feel like looking at the runway you know you would feel confident wearing any of these pieces. In the dress above I adore the shoulder draping, it feels quite Grecian in the shoulders and some of the shaping but the colour makes it more modern and wearable. I love the boots they paired with this dress as well, it adds a bit of fun to a very serious outfit.

I have to say when it came to the evening dresses, I liked basically most of them and realistically there is an evening dress for everyone. You have the hyper sexy outfits which I could only dream of wearing but then you have the dress above and the satin red dress I have included below which are a little bit more playful whilst retaining a classic quality.
In regards to the dress above you essentially have a long velvet dress which on its own is quite classic but then you have the tulle coming out of the top. I quite like that it looks like the tulle shapes the models face but could you imagine sitting down in this dress and trying to eat food. I think it would be a bit messy but at least you would have a drip tray. I have to quickly mention the little star bag, how cute is that bag, I have no idea what you are putting in there but I love how it adds a bit of detail to a full black outfit.

My god is the dress above something I could only dream of pulling off. Once again much like the first dress I spoke about you have some Grecian influences in the draping, the neckline and even the gladiator sandals the dress has been paired with. All of these elements come together to make one hell of a dress which could only make you feel confident. The accessory to this dress is also something a bit more playful, it has a star shaped bottom which I think is amazing. I love that it is a detail that you wouldn't necessarily notice.

It is hard to narrow the runway down to a favourite because I truly do love all of the dresses I have decided to include in this post but the one above and this whole style has to be up there with my favourites. Scarlett Johansson wore one of these dresses to the Oscars and she looked STUNNING! The way the satin fabric clung to her curves and the way the bodice looked like it was an inch away from falling apart, it was beautiful and the dresses included in this runway maintain that glamour.
Boned bodices have been very popular with brands like Alexander McQueen and Dior but I think this version could be my favourite. I love how the boning helps to shape the upper half of the body and creates so much shape whilst not being overly revealing. It seems odd to say that because it is literally mesh panelling but I think the beaded strings which hang down give it a level of sophistication. In the dress above the bodice then goes down into a velvet skirt with a split all the way up to the waist. You would have to be very brave to wear this but the pay off would be extraordinary. I also love how the styling is kept very simple for this outfit as the outfit does everything!

Based on this Runway, What Should You Add to Your A/W Wardrobe?
Be a Bit Dramatic - If you have not seen Bella Hadid in the final outfit of this runway, then you clearly do not spend much time on the internet. However I don't know how anyone wouldn't want to wear a feathered, hooded red cape in everyday life. The garments themselves are quite normal but it is the details that make these outfits so extra, such as the cape and the fanned tulle on the black dress that covers your face. Adding a little bit of flair to your outfit is not a crime.
Feathers are Still Relevant - I felt a bit jaded by feathers as part of red carpet outfits. For the NTAs this year it seemed like all of the previous Love Island contestants had agreed to wear a see-through mesh glitter covered dress with feather details. After seeing all of these outfits, I felt a bit fed up of the feathers but Oscar De La Renta has singlehandedly change my mind. Although if it is not a feathered cape, I'm not sure how interested I'm going to be.
Evening Wear is the Only Wear - Why is it not acceptable to be able to wear these types of outfits all the time, I want to be able to leave my house wearing gorgeous gowns like these. It is such a shame that there really isn't the ocassion for these types of outfits anymore. Well not in my life anyway.
Confidence is Key - All of these outfits take a lot of balls to pull off but they exude sex-appeal and confidence. All of the models look incredibly defiant in these outfits and that is an attitude I hope to mirror in my everyday life.
